Church History
NorthGate United Methodist Congregation held its first worship service on March 10, 1991, in an abandoned truck stop at Exit 158 and Baptist Road. The service was conducted by the Rev. Don Bloor, the organizing pastor. We were chartered as a United Methodist Fellowship on August 11, 1991.
Three years later, on March 10, 1994, we were forced to move, because the truck stop was sold to Brookhart's Building Centers. Two area churches offered to church-share with us. The offer to move to the Church at Woodmoor was accepted by the Fellowship, since they were willing to let us use their church building on Sunday afternoons. We met for worship and Sunday School from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. each Sunday. In time, the desire to move worship to the morning hour was instrumental in the congregation seeking another location for the church
On June 2, 1996, we moved to a leased location at 183 N. Washington Street in Monument, the site of the former Tn-Lakes Cable Company. This move took place only after the congregation spent six months renovating the building to its present configuration. We were chartered as Tn-Lakes United Methodist Church on September 26, 1999.
On December 14, 2000, we purchased 40 acres of land from Delores and Norman Younger just east of the Kings Deer development, near the corner of County Line Road and Highway 83. We held our first services at our new location at 20256 Hunting Downs Way, Monument, CO 80132 in September of 2006.
