Welcome

Men of TLUMC,

For over 15 years, the United Methodist Men (UMM) have served Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church. During that time we have seen significant growth in both our leadership and also the general participation from the men of TLUMC.  The UMM host a number of projects, both internal and external, with the goal of helping those in need, helping other TLUMC groups, and in general,  helping all as they strive to simply be good Christian men.

Each month, we host a breakfast gathering on the 3rd Saturday at 8:30am.  These events usually last about ninety minutes and include time for devotions, a presentation by one of our members, and occasionally, an outside speaker.  We also take time to discuss upcoming UMM activities, look at new opportunities, and in general provide an update to that State-of-the-UMM.

We hope you will join us at our next breakfast – but if you can’t make it, this web page, along with our bi-weekly emails should keep you informed.  Currently we have over 80 men receiving emails.  You can sign up by emailing

Hope to see you at our NEXT breakfast — ALWAYS the 3rd Saturday of each month, in the TLUMC lower level.

Ron Maw, President

Regular Events

The UMM have a variety of activities that range from individual ministries to group activities that are just plain fun.  Some of these are monthly while others are annual, and some, are one-time good deals.  Scroll down to see what we do on a regular basis and also to see what we’ve done in the past as one-time god-deals!!

Men’s Bible Study (Weekly) – Thursdays, 7AM, at Serrano’s Coffee House, 625 Highway 105, Monument, CO 80132.

Whether you are a long-time member of TLUMC, have just joined TLUMC, or are just attending, we invite you to join us for the UMM Bible Study every week. If you would like to know more, please contact Wendall Hollis. We hope you can come every week, but if you can only drop in occasionally, please come when you can. We spend some time in fellowship, chatting about the events of the day, personal things, a serious situation, sports, or whatever naturally arises out of the growing relationship among us. The rest of the hour is spent in Bible study.  We study the content and then talk about ways to apply it to our daily lives. There is plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion.

See you on Thursday

Saturday Morning Fellowship and Breakfast (Monthly on 3rd Saturday):   Meeting the 3rd Saturday of MOST months at 8:30 AM in the TLUMC lower level, the UMM offer this great opportunity for fellowship with a delicious breakfast.  We also provide a variety of programming including devotionals,  personal testimony/stories, and occasionally guest speakers.  You never know till you go!!!

Summer-After-Church-Hot-Dog-Cookout:  Each Summer, UMM serve nearly 700 dogs and brats on three summer Sunday mornings.  This is a great time for fellowship, and you might even learn to cook dogs!

Annual Events

Men’s Camping and Retreat: Held at John Wesley Ranch in Divide.  Join us Fall 2017 for the 4th annual retreat.

Easter Sunday Parking :  Each year, the UMM provide volunteers to help direct traffic on this VERY busy day.  Help is needed for the 9AM and 11AM services.  Contact Ron Maw.

4th July Float – TLUMC has historically entered a float in the Monument/Palmer Lake Parade.  We’ve had live music, recorded music, youth music, etc.  People of all ages and nationalities have walked and/or ridden on the float.  It’s a great opportunity to get the name of TLUMC to the local area.  In 2014, the EPG group added their trailer to the event.

Tri Tip Annual BBQ Dinner: This family friendly annual UMM sponsored event is open to all.  Men, women, children, and friends are all welcome.  Each year during the fall or early winter seasons, the UMM provide an excellent BBQ meal followed by an entertaining show.

Airshow & Pancake Breakfast - The Kelly Air Park, located about 15 minutes north of TLUMC, is hosting their annual FLY-IN and airshow.  Aircraft of all types are invited to FLY-IN and show off.  Aircraft range from vintage biwings and WW-I planes to modern 2-seaters.  Last year there was even a WW-II navy jet!  Never know what other interesting aircraft will show up. This FAMILY friendly even is open to anyone who wants to come out.  There is NO cost.  An OPTIONALpancake breakfast runs from 7:00AM to a1:00AM.

Crawford House:   The Crawford House in Colorado Springs provides safe emergency housing for veterans who are homeless and receiving mental health care, and provides a temporary structured living environment for veterans in VA-provided substance abuse rehabilitation.  The UMM assist with repairs and clothing needs.

TLUMC Women:  The Women's group at TLUMC has many projects, programs, and activities.  The UMM support them in various ways including MANual labor, occasional financial assistance, and in any other way we are asked.

HAP

In 2014, the UMM adopted the Tri-Lakes Health Advisory Partnership (HAP) as our community outreach.  Dave Betzler, a TLUMC UMM Member, is the current HAP president.  For additional detailed information on the HAP, please visit their web-page.

HAP has identified several projects that we can help with over the next several months.  Each project needs a TEAM LEADER and several Team-Workers.  If you would like to be EITHER a leader or a worker, please contact Ron Maw, Dave Betzler, or AL Mundy.
