bobTLUMC Family,

As we continue to move through this time of separation, our church leadership has prepared a "Top Ten" list of updates we want you to be aware of. Please take the time to look at this list, as there are some important changes/updates to previous messages.

Top Ten TLUMC Updates

  • With limitations on gatherings still in place, we will continue our Sunday worship livestreams until further notice: Contemporary at 9:30am, Traditional at 11:00am at tlumc.org/live and facebook.com/tlumc and youtube.com/tlumc. Please comment and let us know that you are joining us!
  • One of the key losses in not having worship in person is not being able to share in Holy Communion as a body. Normally, sharing communion online would not be considered a substitute for sharing the sacrament in person, but extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. As a way of maintaining our corporate connection to Christ and each other through the sacrament during this temporary season, we encourage you to pick up or make some bread at home to have on hand during our Sunday morning livestream, along with some grape juice, and follow along with the liturgy.
  • We encourage you to maintain your financial giving to TLUMC and thank you in advance for your generosity! You can give online through our website at tlumc.org and the “Give Online” link at the top right of the page. You can also mail a check to the church (20256 Hunting Downs Way, Monument, CO, 80132) or set up a bill pay contribution with your bank.
  • Weekday morning prayer will move to Facebook Live at 7:30am each weekday (Facebook.com/tlumc). Recording will then be available for later viewing on Facebook. Please let us know how we can be praying for you in the comments! Please know that you do not need a facebook account to watch, but you do need an account to comment.
  • The Wednesday night Lent Study will livestream at 6:00pm at tlumc.org/live and youtube.com/tlumc and Facebook.com/tlumc. Notes and previously recorded sessions are posted online at tlumc.org/lentstudy.
  • We have a team of volunteers ready to assist those who are in need of supplies but who are self-isolating at home. Contact Margie Frostman, TLUMC Mission Team leader, at 719.244.6992 or by email at .
  • Church staff will only be in the office on an as-needed basis beginning March 18. If you need to get into the church, please email Cary at  to coordinate a time. Staff will be checking mail and phone messages daily. You can contact members of the staff directly to coordinate anything you might need. Contact emails for each staff member are available at https://tlumc.org/about/meet-the-staff
  • Submit your prayer requests at tlumc.org/prayerOur Prayer Team will continue to receive these and pray for you!
  • All other in-person meetings and groups are suspended for the time being. If your group or committee would like to meet online, contact Pastor Bob () or Pastor Jason () to set that up. We will keep you posted on when we can resume our normal operations.
  • We know there is a lot of fear and uncertainty at this time. Please let us know how we can help. God is with us and we will get through this!

Blessings and peace,
Bob Kaylor

Update 3.13.20

bob message title

bobTLUMC Family,

After consultation with our Church Council, and with the Colorado governor’s decision to ban gatherings of more than 250 people just announced, this announcement serves as notice that Tri-Lakes United Methodist Church is canceling our physical, in-person worship services for at least the next two Sundays. Given the emerging situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, this is the most prudent course of action to protect our church membership, especially our most vulnerable members, during this time of uncertainty. That does not mean that we are shutting the church down completely, however. Here are some notes for how we will still remain connected during the next couple of weeks:

  • Again, our Sunday morning in-person worship service gatherings are canceled for the next two Sundays (March 15 and 22). A decision on returning to our regular Sunday schedule will be made after March 22, taking into account advice we are receiving from official sources. We will, however, continue to gather as the church online. This week’s service has been pre-recorded and uploaded to our YouTube channel and our Facebook page. Next Sunday, we will livestream an abridged service at 10:00am, which will also be recorded so that you can view it any time.
  • To access our video live-stream, go to our web site at tlumc.org/live or facebook.com/tlumc.
  • While our worship services are moving online for a couple of weeks, our church’s financial needs continue. There are a number of ways you can continue your giving to the church. To give online, simply go to our web site (tlumc.org) and click on the “Give Online” link at the top right of the page to enter your contribution. You can also check with your bank about sending an automated check to TLUMC, or you can simply mail your tithes and offerings to us via U.S. Mail: 20256 Hunting Downs Way, Monument, CO 80132. Your generosity and gifts are always appreciated!
  • The church office will be open on a limited basis. During the week of March 16-19, we will be open from 8:30am to Noon. We will keep you informed on the schedule after that. Your best option is to call the church before you head out that way.
  • As for mid-week classes, events, and groups, we will move those online where possible and, where groups like weekly Bible studies, committee meetings, and rehearsals normally meet in person, we will leave that decision up to the group leader. For this coming week, here’s how we will approach each event on the calendar:
  • Monday, March 16 - Town Hall Meeting: Postponed. Will be rescheduled.
  • Wednesday, March 18 - Lent study: Live-stream only at 6:00pm (no soup supper or gathering).

All other groups and meetings will take place at the discretion of the leader. If you would like to conduct your meeting or class online (you can also phone in), contact Jason or me and we will get you connected via our Zoom videoconferencing software.

  • I will also be leading a daily online prayer meeting at 7:30am each weekday during this time. This is a great opportunity for us to stay connected, pray for one another and for our world, and check in. You can join us via computer (click here) or via phone at (669) 900-6833. Meeting ID: 560 519 120 and Password: 074574
  • Leaders, I encourage you to check in on the members of your committees and groups. Please let us know if you discover a need, particularly for those who have needs for food or basic supplies and are hesitant to get out. This is a time when we can pull together as a church to help one another and our community, which is one of the great hallmarks of TLUMC! Watch for more ways that you can help in the coming days.
  • Let us know if you are sick (and not just with COVID-19). We will be limiting our pastoral visits for the next couple of weeks in order to protect those whose health is fragile, but we want to be able to connect with you via phone to pray with you. Let us know what you need and how we can help!
  • Don’t panic. Instead, use this time to engage in prayer and patience, to lean on God’s promises, and to embrace Jesus’ mandate to care for one another. John Wesley urged us to “watch out for one another in love,” and there’s no better time for us to do that than the present.

Blessings and peace,
Bob Kaylor
Lead Pastor
