During our monthly meetings the Church Council typically covers a wide review of the church's activities, however the Church Council meeting on June 7th will focus solely on the issue of possible disaffiliation from the United Methodist Church in 2022 given that the Mountain Sky Conference (MSC) has provided an extremely tight timeline for local congregations to consider disaffiliation in 2022.

The vote by the Church Council at this meeting will only be a recommendation to either pursue disaffiliation in 2022 through Tri-Lakes UMC congregational outreach and a Tri-Lakes UMC congregational vote within the timeline provided by the MSC, or not to pursue disaffiliation in 2022 while keeping all options open as the United Methodist Church heads towards its next General Conference in 2024. The congregation is welcome to participate in this meeting, and there will be time for you to voice your thoughts, but the June 7th meeting is not the forum for full discussion and debate - that would occur in future town hall meetings that will be widely advertised. Any final decision on disaffiliation, one way or the other, is solely the prerogative of you, the members of the Tri-Lakes UMC congregation. The staff and Church Council will act in an advisory capacity, but ultimately they will not make this decision on behalf of the congregation. The pledge of your Tri-Lakes UMC Church Council is to keep you all informed of everything that the Council knows with respect to this issue, as well as all proceedings of the Church Council. Prior Tri-Lakes UMC Church Councilmeeting minutes are posted in a Google Drive folder accessible by all members (CLICK HERE TO VIEW MEETING MINUTES).Please feel free to speak to any member of your Tri-Lakes UMC Church Council - we are all working toward our mission to build followers of Jesus Christ who love and serve God and neighbor!

Chair, Tri-Lakes UMC Church Council
Have you ever noticed in the weekly bulletin or at the end of the mid-week news the listing of all the upcoming church events under "Mark Your Calendar"? If not, we urge you to become aware of the myriad activities that are going on at your church. And, please know that you are welcome to participate in Tri-Lakes UMC's administrative meetings with the sole exception being when the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is dealing with private, personnel matters. Other than that, your participation helps the vibrancy of our church as well as ensuring awareness that the staff and lay leadership members of the committees are working for the whole of Tri-Lakes UMC.
In that vein, the Tri-Lakes UMC Church Council provides for planning and implementing a program of nurture, outreach, witness, and resources in the local church. It also provides for the administration of its organization and temporal life. The TLUMC Church Council meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. The next scheduled TLUMC Church Council meeting is Tuesday, June 7th, 2022.
