An update on Mabyn from my daughter Adrienne: We are excited to share she has made significant progress in the last 2 weeks. She was transferred out of ICU Sunday, June 30 to a neuro/rehab floor at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She’s been able to participate in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy and getting stronger each day. She’s back to talking a lot and using her imagination to play with Little People. She is walking with assist of PT and building up her core are arm strength with OT. She was done with speech therapy after one week eating normal foods, and her feeding tube in her nose was removed!! Today, July10, Mabyn will transfer to Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago for intensive inpatient rehab (they don’t offer this program in Milwaukee). We don’t know how long Mabyn will be there for rehab, but hope to all be home as a family by the end of the month! We have been blessed that our families have stepped up to help watch Mirren overnight throughout this. In Chicago, we are hopeful to get a room at the Ronald McDonald House where Mirren and Aunt Annette can stay a few nights at a time. Mabyn has said over and over again how much she loves her sister and needs her to visit. It’s good motivation to get home! Thank you again for the prayers, positive thoughts, visits, meals, and offers to help. We are forever grateful to our tribe of family and friends that have supported us through this journey.
