There are many Ministry Programs at TLUMC to get involved in.  Below is a list of programs that are primarily made up of women.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study –Tuesdays, 9:00am at TLUMC, led by Carley Lehman.

Young Mom's Bible Study - 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month, led by Megan Anderson

Prayer Shawl Ministry – The purpose of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to provide a tangible sign of the comfort, strength, peace, and warmth of God’s loving embrace during difficult and joyful times.  Our goal is to present a shawl to each family unit of TLUMC.  We also try to honor special requests.  The shawls are made anonymously and given anonymously. Knitters and crocheters in our congregation are invited to help with shawls. We will also teach you the skills if you are interested in learning.  We gather about every 2 months to exchange new patterns and chat, but most of the work is done at home at your own pace.  The gatherings are listed in the newsletter. Contact Beverly Carlson for more info.

Crawford House Quilters – This group of sewers use old jeans and flannel to make warm quilts for the Crawford House vets. The Crawford House is a shelter in downtown Colorado Springs for veterans needing help.  If you would like to sew or cut fabric while enjoying some fellowship, please contact Jan VonBerg.

Funeral Food – The Funeral Food Committee (FFC) was started by the TLUMC Prime Timers but anyone can serve on it who would like to be involved in providing a reception after a Memorial Service at the church.    For more information, please contact Judy Hufford.

Bread of Love – The Bread of Love program provides meals to families in times of need.  When a  family member has been hospitalized, a loved one has passed away, or in any time of need, volunteers will deliver meals to your family to help get you through those rough days.  For more information, please contact Linda Lyons.

Scrapbooking  – This group meets every month on the 2nd Friday (6:00-9:00pm) and 2nd Saturday (9:00am – 6:00pm), except for December. All are invited from novices to expert scrapbookers. Bring your pictures, albums, etc. and remember no one ‘grades’ your work, we all just have a lot of fun! To reserve a spot or if you have any questions, please contact Tammy Ciccolella, email:

Book Club – The Book Club meets once a month to discuss a current title, and enjoy a cup of coffee.  We usually meet at Espresso Americano, 15954 Jackson Creek Pkwy in Monument.  New members are always welcome.  Please contact Laura Johnson if you would like more information.

Mission Programs

 Tri-Lakes Neighborhood Nurse

One of the local mission projects the TLUMC Women support is the Neighborhood Nurse Program.  We help provide over the counter medications, supplies and equipment on an as needed basis.  The Nurse is provided by Penrose St. Francis.  The program is sponsored by Tri-Lakes HAP and hosted by Tri-Lakes Cares.

From our earliest days United Methodists have believed that providing health care to others is an important duty of Christians. John Wesley found ways to offer medical services at no cost to the poor in London. The first Methodist Social Creed (adopted in 1908) urged working conditions to safeguard the health of workers and community.... www.umc.org

There are many people in our community who are struggling financially and have insufficient health insurance or none at all.  When a routine trip to the doctor is a financial burden, the choice is often not to go.  The Neighborhood Nurse program provides no cost health education and primary care by Medical Doctors and Nurse Practitioners who volunteer their time. The majority of the clientele are women and children.

The TLUMC Women are helping to provide OTC pediatric medications as well as various medical equipment and supplies.  If you would like to participate in this program or just learn more about it, please contact our Neighborhood Nurse coordinator Melinda Vanderoef.

UMCOR Relief-Supply Kits

At least once per year, the TLUMC Women assemble relief-supply kits, transfer them to one of the UMCOR supply depots where they are prepared for world wide distribution.  If you are interested in learning more about this process or would like to help, please contact our UMCOR Coordinator Jessica Anderson-Webber.

Relief-supply kits help provide care for the most vulnerable people during times of crisis. Health kits, sewing kits, school kits, bedding kits, birthing kits, and cleaning buckets are collected by generous donors across the United States. These items are then sent to one of two supply depots, where volunteers assemble, verify, and pack the kits so that they can be sent to where they are needed most.

Kits also help sustain everyday life for people who lack ready access to essential supplies. They provide vital support for UMCOR’s global development work and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
