Gatherings/Speakers (local support provided)

TLUMC Women also plans informational gatherings with various guest speakers.

Cookie Walk

The Cookie Walk is the TLUMC Women’s primary fundraiser to support our outreaches.  Talented cookie bakers from our congregation provide us with delicious sweets which we sell by the pound in conjunction with the Monument Christmas Craft Fair in early December.  We always welcome additional helpers for this project.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study – Tuesdays, 9:00 at TLUMC.  Led by Carley Lehman  ()

Young Mom’s Bible Study – 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month.  Led by Megan Anderson  ()

Prayer Shawl Ministry – The purpose of the Prayer Shawl Ministry is to provide a tangible sign of the comfort, strength and warmth of God’s loving embrace during difficult and joyful times.  The goal is to present a shawl to each family unit of TLUMC.  They also try to honor special requests.  The shawls are made anonymously.  Knitters and crocheters in our congregation are invited to help with the shawls.  We will also teach you the skills if you are interested in learning. Contact Beverly Carlson ().

Funeral Food – The Funeral Food Committee (FCC) was started by the TLUMC Prime Timers but anyone can serve on it who would like to be more involved in providing a reception after a Memorial Service at the church.  For more information, please contact Lynne Lane ().

Bread of Love – The Bread of Love program provides meals to families in times of need.  When a family member has been hospitalized, a loved one has passed away, or in any time of need, volunteers will deliver meals to your family to help you get through those rough days.  For more information, please contact Lori Benton ()

Scrapbooking – This group meets every month on the 2nd Friday (6:00 pm – 9:00) and 2nd Saturday (9:00 am – 6:00pm), except December.  All are invited, from novices to expert scrapbookers.  Bring your pictures, albums, etc. and remember no one “grades” your work, we all just have a lot of fun!  To reserve a spot or if you have any questions, please contact Tammy Ciccolella ().

Mission Programs

Tri-Lakes Neighborhood Nurse (local support provided)

There are many people in our community who are struggling financially and have insufficient or no health insurance.  Penrose St. Francis provides a nurse for Tri-Lakes Cares in Monument and the TLUMC Women support the nurse by helping to provide over-the-counter medications, supplies and equipment on an as-needed basis.

Palmer-Divide Blanket Brigade (PDBB) (local support provided)

The Palmer-Divide Blanket Brigade is a group of women in the community who prepare and sew “comfort quilts” for distribution to those in need.  TLUMC Women help by providing finances for quilt materials.

Crawford House Quilters (local support provided)

The Crawford House is a shelter in downtown Colorado Springs for veterans needing help.  This group of quilters uses old jeans and flannel to make warm quilts for the vets.  TLUMC Women help by providing financial support for materials.

Operation Christmas Child (OCC - regional support provided)

OCC is an outreach program of Franklin Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse organization to provide Christmas gifts and Christian teaching to children in third world countries.  TLUMC Women provide “shoeboxes” for people in our church/community to fill with small gifts.  Boxes are returned to TLUMC and our women deliver them to the local drop off points for OCC.

Days for Girls (DfG – international support provided)

Many women in third world countries have no feminine hygiene products available to them.  Consequently during the time of their menstrual periods they are banned from their villages. Days for Girls is an international organization whose goal is to provide reusable feminine hygiene products to those in need.  TLUMC Women are working alongside DfG to construct simple drawstring bags to hold these hygiene products.
