Advent Study

The Book of Ruth, which only takes up four chapters in the Bible, beautifully expresses the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. This book teaches us how to persevere and trust God in challenging times.

This course requires physical exercise. Please wear comfortable clothes so that you can move, bend, and kneel. There will only be a 30 minute break for lunch, so please bring your food to the class. Kitchen facilities are available.

Lenten Study

Our Wednesday night Lenten study goes a little deeper with the theme of “Jesus the Stranger” by focusing specifically on the people who were with Jesus at the crucifixion. What did his death mean to those who gathered there—the mourning women, the mocking crowd, the Roman centurion, the others crucified with him? Those who saw Jesus die were left with an indelible impression of him and they invite us to see his death in a new light as well. We’ll be using Amy Jill Levine’s new book Witness at the Cross as our guide for this study. Join us on Wednesdays beginning March 9. We’ll have a simple soup supper at 5:30pm each week, followed by the study from 6:00 to 7:00pm.

We are blessed to be partnering with a local ministry called Prison Talk to explore the possibility of prison ministry. 

Tri-Lakes UMC will host a church-wide orientation on prison ministry on Sunday, May 22nd at 12:30 PM in the Lower Level Great Room. Reverend Gary Skinner, the founder of Prison Talk, will be joining us to speak and answer questions.

Would you be willing to serve a disabled widow or a down-on-their-luck couple for 1 day to provide an opportunity to save their property like in the picture above?  If so, keep reading! 

We are offering free, joyful post-service pictures like the one above. If you are interested in serving, we are looking for help on these days:
